FUNCTION OVERVIEW SAM4
KS57-series microcontrollers have advanced SAM4 core. SAM4 directly address bytes program memory. arithmetic logic unit (ALU) performs 4-bit addition, subtraction, logical, shift-and-rotate operations instruction cycle. Most 8-bit arithmetic logical operations performed cycles.
REGISTERS
Program Counter
11-bit program counter (PC) stores addresses instruction fetch during program execution. Usually, incremented number bytes instruction being fetched. exception 1-byte instruction REF, which used reference instructions stored look-up table ROM.
Stack Pointer
8-bit stack pointer (SP) stores addresses stack operations. stack area located generalpurpose data memory bank 8-bit read/writeable. SP.O must always logical zero.
PROGRAM MEMORY
standard configuration, 2048 8-bit divided into three functional areas:
16-byte area vector addresses
96-byte instruction reference area
16-byte 1920-byte areas general-purpose program memory
instruction references 1-byte 2-byte instructions stored locations 0020H-007FH.
DATA MEMORY
Overview
data memory four areas:
4-bit working register area
4-bit general-purpose area
4-bit area data
enable memory bank (EMB) flag controls addressing mode data memory banks When flag logic zero, only locations 00H-7FH bank bank accessed.
When flag logic one, either data memory bank accessed according current value.
Working Registers
RAM's working register area data memory bank also divided into four register banks. Each register bank eight 4-bit registers. Paired 4-bit registers 8-bit addressable.
Data Register Area

CONTROL REGISTERS
Select Bank (SB) Register

INTERRUPTS
Interrupt requests generated internally on-chip processes (INTB INTT) externally peripheral devices (INTO INT1). There quasi-interrupt, INTW. INTW detects time intervals seconds 3.91 watch timer clock frequency 32.768 kHz.

POWER-DOWN MODES
reduce power consumption, there power-down modes: Idle Stop. IDLE instruction initiates Idle mode; STOP instruction initiates stop mode.
Idle mode, clock stops while peripherals continue operate normally. Stop mode, system clock oscillation stops, halting operations except basic peripheral functions. power-down released either reset interrupt.
RESETb
When RESETb signal occurs during normal operation during power-down mode, enters Idle mode when reset operation starts. When oscillation stabilization interval (31.3 4.19 MHz) elapsed, normal operation resumes.
PORTS
There four output pins four configurable pins, total eight pins. contents port latches read, written, tested corresponding address using manipulation instructions.
TIMERS TIMER/COUNTERS
timer function block three main components: 8-bit basic interval timer, watch timer, 8-bit timer/counter.
8-bit basic timer generates interrupt requests precise intervals, based selected internal clock frequency.
watch timer 8-bit watch timer mode register, frequency divider circuit. functions include real-time watch-time measurement, clock generation controller.
programmable 8-bit timer/counter used programmable interval timer watchdog timer.
