STEP DOWN VOLTAGE SWITCHING REGULATORS
GM2576 series designed provide active function step-down (buck) switching regulator, drives maximum load current high line load regulations. GM2576 available fixed output voltages 3.3V, versatile Adjustable output version. These regulators simple require minimum number external components. features include internal frequency compensation fixed-frequency oscillator. GM2576 high-efficiency replacements popular three-terminal linear regulators, requiring smaller heat sink even need heat sink. GM2576 performs well with standard inductors from most manufacturers, simplifying design switch-mode power supplies. External shutdown included with (typical) standby current. output switch cycle-by-cycle current limiting well thermal shutdown full protection under fault conditions. GM2576 operates switching frequency which allowing smaller size filter components than what would needed with lower frequency switching regulators. GM2576 series available standard 8-lead package, lead package with heat sink TO252 package.

Test Circuit Layout Guidelines
Careful layout important with switching regulators. Rapidly switching currents associated with wiring inductance generate voltage transients which cause problems. minimize inductance ground loops, lengths leads indicated heavy lines Figure below should kept short possible. Single point grounding indicated ground plane construction should used best results. When using Adjustable version, place programming resistors close possible GM2576, keep sensitive feedback wiring short.
