General Description
TC3400 cost, power analog-to-digital converter based Microchip's Sigma-Delta technology. will perform 16-bit conversions (15-bit plus sign) eight second. TC3400 optimized microcontroller peripheral cost, battery operated systems. voltage reference included, external reference used. TC3400's 2-wire microPortdigital interface used starting conversions reading data. Driving SCLK line starts conversion. After conversion starts, each additional falling edge six) detected SCLK seconds reduces resolution cuts conversion time half. After conversion completed, clocking SCLK line puts through resulting data word onto SDAT line, much like shift register. part automatically sleeps when performing data conversion. Converter Operation
When TC3400 converting, sleep mode with both SCLK SDAT lines high. conversion initiated high transition SCLK line which time internal clock TC3400 started. Each additional high transition SCLK (following initial SCLK falling edge) during time interval will decrement conversion resolution reduce conversion time half. time interval referred resolution reduction window. minimum conversion resolution 10-bits more than SCLK transitions during will ignored. After each high transition SCLK, interval, SDAT output driven high TC3400 acknowledge that conversion been decremented. When SCLK returns high interval ends, SDAT line returns (see Figure 3-2). When conversion complete SDAT driven high. TC3400 enters sleep mode conversion value read serial data word SDAT line.
SCLK input filter which rejects positive negative pulse width less than 50nsec reduce noise. rejection width this pulse vary between 50nsec 750nsec depending processing parameters supply voltage. Figure Table show information determining mode operation TC3400 part recording value SDAT SCLK high, then low, then high state. example, SCLK goes through 1-0-1 transition corresponding values SDAT 1-1-0, then SCLK falling edge started data conversion. 0-1-0 SDAT would have indicated resolution reduction occurred.
