Speech recognition
VE-IC uses neural network perform speaker-independent speaker-dependent speech recognition uses external flash memory store speech recognition information. VE-IC several additional speech recognition features described below. Continuous Listening Continuous Listening allows chip continuously listen specific word. With this feature product used normal environment only "activates" when specific word, preceded quiet, spoken. Speech music synthesis VE-IC provides high-quality speech synthesis using hybrid time-domain compression scheme that improves conventional ADPCM customized reuse sounds. Speech synthesis uses external flash store audio sounds synthesis. VE-IC provides high-quality, low-cost three-voice music synthesis which allows multiple, simultaneous instruments harmonizing; uses MIDI-like system generate music. Record playback VE-IC perform audio record playback various compression levels depending quantity quality playback desired. Data rates under 14,000 bits second achievable while maintaining very high quality reproduction. VE-IC also performs silence removal improve sound quality reduce memory requirements. Speaker verification VE-IC also perform text-dependent speaker verification. After speaker trains chip specific word, chip able identify whether that word spoken original speaker, thus providing biometric security. Word spot Word Spot provides ability recognize trigger words embedded continuous speech; thus password sequence "Robert Henson" could recognized spoken name Robert John Henson". only used with Speaker Dependent technology; thus always requires training phase. 80-0204-B 2001 Sensory Inc.

Matrix Keypad Support VE-IC supports keypad that controlled using functions built into VE-C language. When keypad scanned, columns driven (active low), rows sensed (pulled high) previous configuration output values these pins saved restored. keypad pinouts follows: P0.2 P1.2 P0.5 P1.5 P0.4 P1.4 P0.7 P1.7 P0.3
General Purpose Module general-purpose pins. Each line programmed input with weak pull-up resistor (~150k ohm), input with strong pull-up resistor (~10k ohm), input without pull-ups, output. Note: application stand-alone (once download program asynchronous serial I/O), serial pins, P0.0 P0.1, serial port enable, P1.7, used other purposes. Since pins P0.5 P0.6 connected address Flash memory, they used only matrix keypad; they should used under other circumstances since they allocated Flash address lines. Power typical operating current operating 14.32 Lowering clock frequency reduces power consumption, although speech recognition requires 14.32 clock. Standby current <5µA power down mode. Oscillators independent oscillators VE-IC provide high-frequency clock 32kHz time-keeping clock. Both oscillators work with external crystal, ceramic resonator oscillator characteristics are: Pins Frequency Notes Oscillator 14.32 Oscillator 32768 Available only with package
Clock VE-IC uses fully static core processor stopped removing clock source) restarted without causing reset losing contents internal registers. Static operation guaranteed from 14.32 MHz. Preamplifier on-chip preamplifier circuit consists three stages with maximum overall gain about 500. amplifier includes Vref input that used amplifier center voltages must driven impedance voltage supplied external source. signal inputs stages have input impedance Vref pad. typical design, AOFE1 would directly coupled AIFE2, AOFE2 would capacitively 80-0204-B 2001 Sensory Inc.
