OPERATING BOARD Powering Board demo board, apply ±15V 200mA banana jacks (GND) careful observe correct polarity. Internal regulators provide LTC1416/LTC1419. LT1121-5 regulator (U2) provides analog digital circuitry provided buffer MC79L05 regulator (U1).
Analog Input LTC1416/LTC1419 have unique feature found previous ADCs: differential inputs with good common mode rejection from over 10MHz. While this feature extremely valuable rejecting noise measuring differential signals, board also used evaluate LTC1416/LTC1419 single-ended mode (with input grounded). LTC1416/LTC1419 +AIN (noninverting) (inverting) inputs have common mode range VDD. full-scale differential between signals applied +AIN ±2.5V. example, when 1.5V signal applied input, negative-to-positive fullscale input range +AIN corresponding output code 1000 0000 0000 0111 1111 1111. demo board delivered with jumpers closed. This configures board ±2.5V input signal centered around ground applied (+AIN). board includes recommended lowpass filter (R15, C11) across differential inputs. With component values shown, cutoff frequency (fs) 1.04MHz 2(102)(0.0015µF) These values altered meet other circuit input signal requirements. lower bandwidth input signals, increase value C11. undersampling applications that take advantage input circuitry's wide bandwidth, decrease capacitance C11. best observe performance LTC1416/ LTC1419 drive directly from impedance signal source. However, since some applications involve high output impedance sources, board also provisions onboard LT1363 high speed operational amplifier. LT1363, operating noninverter buffer, provides LTC1416/LTC1419 with fast settling, impedance signal that allows input voltage fully settle before starting conversion. buffer recommended source impedance input signal greater than 930. LT1363 demonstrates properly drive LTC1416/LTC1419. When using LT1363, open close JP3. Optimum performance achieved using signal source that output impedance, noise distortion. Signal generators, such Type 1051 Sine Generator, give excellent results. Further, this

LAYOUT well-designed printed circuit board layout incorporating LTC1416/LTC1419 uses separate analog digital ground planes. This bypass capacitor necessary because LTC1416/LTC1419 internal reference requires bypass capacitor least stable operation. Reference noise reduced even further using 0.1µF monolithic ceramic capacitor connected between VREF analog ground plane. with high accuracy, high resolution circuits, best performance achieved minimizing lead length bypass capacitors.
