CVM87XM Notes:
PICmicro 16F87x device family introduced ability device programmatically Read Write Code space. This "self modifying" code feature first PICmicro products directly supported PIC16F877/ME bondout (Emulation Silicon) itself. However, this feature emulated with small performance limitation.
Emulation Requirements Limitations:
Advanced Family Module (CVM03F) Although other features `87x devices supported standard family module (CVMXXF), Advanced Family Module (CVM03F) required order emulate Code FLASH Read/Write capability. Newly released modules require latest version supporting software proper identification configuration. This module requires 4.1. have earlier version pre-release copy 4.1, update downloaded from website. Emulation differences Code FLASH Read/Write Since Code FLASH Read/Write ability PICmicro directly implemented within bondout, emulate using software existing hardware. This "external" method emulation, although accurate, does execute Code FLASH Reads Writes real time. example, production silicon will have delay approximately when Writing Code FLASH, whereas CVM87XM module will have 50ms 75ms delay. Data breakpointing hardware used emulate code space R/W. This means that data breakpointing capability available when using code capability vice-versa. available feature determined selection Project Setup dialog under Emulator Options. code image that maintained represents code image that built compile time. implement "Self modifying Code" feature during emulation, contents TDE's windows will longer match contents program memory being executed.
