Simple Single-Loop Control Design
General Description
APW7016 provides complete control protection DC-DC converter optimized high performance microprocessor applications. designed drive N-Channel MOSFETs synchronousrectified buck topology. APW7016 integrates output voltage control monitoring protection functions into single Package. APW7016 includes 3-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that provides easily adjustable precisely output voltage from 1.3VDC 1.65VDC 0.05V steps. selected output voltage maintained within accuracy over temperature line voltage variations. With 200kHz free-running triangle-wave oscillator error amplifier featuring 15MHz unity-gain bandwidth 6V/us slew rate inside chip APW7016 implement simple single feedback loop voltage-mode control topology with high transient performance. APW7016 also features with multiple protections against over-current over-voltage conditions inhibiting operation. APW7016 uses RDS(ON) upper MOSFET current sensing element which eliminates demend extra component. APW7016 also monitors output voltage using comparator with hysteresis that tracks output.

Function Description
VSEN (pin PHASE (pin Connect this converter's voltage output. comparator circuits monitor output voltage status over voltage protection using this signal. OCSET(pin Connect resistor(ROCSET) from this drain upper MOSFET. internal 200µA current source (IOCS), ROCSET, upper MOSFET's onresistance (RDS(ON)) converter over-current (OC) trip point according following equation IOCSET ROCSET rDS(ON) BOOT provides bias voltage upper MOSFET gate driver. bootstrap circuit could used pump BOOT voltage enforcing driving capability gate driver improving performance upper MOSFET. PGND(pin PGND provides power ground connection. Connect this source lower MOSFET. LGATE (pin Connect LGATE lower MOSFET gate. This enables gate drive signal drive lower MOSFET. (pin Connect voltage supply. This supplies bias chip. (pin provides oscillator switching frequency adujstment. connecting resistor (RT) from this GND, nominal 200kHz switching frequency increased. Conversely. connecting pull-up resistor (RT) from this reduces switching frequency. UGATE (pin Connect UGATE upper MOSFET gate. This enables gate drive signal drive upper MOSFET BOOT (pin IPEAK= Connect PHASE source upper MOSFET. This used monitor voltage drop across upper MOSFET over-current protection.
over-current trip resets soft-start function. (Pin Connect capacitor from this ground. This capacitor, along with internal 10µA current source, sets soft-start interval converter. VID0-2 (Pins 4-6) VID0-2 input pins 3-bit DAC. states these three pins decide internal voltage reference (DACOUT). level DACOUT sets converter output voltage also sets thresholds. Table specifies DACOUT combinations inputs. COMP (pin (pin COMP accessiable pins error amplifier. inverting input error amplifier COMP output error amplifier. These pins provide compensation voltage-control feedback loop converter. (Pin signal ground voltage levels measured with respect this pin.
