General Description
APW7058 integrates synchronous-rectified Buck controller linear controller provide regulated voltages graphics cards other embedded processor applications. controller which drives dual N-channel MOSFETs uses fixed 600kHz frequency, voltage-mode control integrates power-on-reset(POR), built-in soft-start, output under-voltage monitoring shutdown functions into single chip. linear controller which drives N-channel MOSFET bypass transistor allows users optimize transient response external components. circuit with hysteresis monitors both 5VCC 12VCC supply voltages start up/shutdown power-on/off. internal 0.8V temperature-compensated reference designed meet output voltage requirement further applications. built-in soft-start function sets soft-start interval prevent output voltages from overshoot well limiting input currents. under-voltage protections monitor voltages short-circuit protection. under-voltage protections cycle soft-start function until times events happened. Pulling holding above 1.28V disable both controllers.

Functional Description
12VCC (Pin Connect this supply voltage. provides bias voltage high-side MOSFET driver linear controller. voltage this monitored Power-On-Reset purposes. UGATE (Pin Connect this gate high-side MOSFET. This provides gate drive MOSFET. (Pin Signal power ground Putting vias ground planet directly close pins minimizes noises. LGATE (Pin Connect this gate low-side MOSFET. This provides gate drive MOSFET. 5VCC (Pin Connect this supply voltage filter (2.2 recommended). This provides bias control circuitry lowside MOSFET driver. voltage this monitored Power-On-Reset purposes. DRIVE2 (Pin Connect this gate external N-Channel MOSFET transistor. This provides gate voltage linear regulator pass transistor. also provides means compensating linear controller applications where user needs optimize regulator transient response. (Pin Connect this output (VOUT2) linear regulator proper sized resistor divider. voltage this regulated 0.8V VOUT2 determined using following formula VOUT2=0.8V where resistor connected from VOUT2 FB2, resistor connected from GND. This also monitored under-voltage events. Pulling holding above 1.28V shuts down both regulators. Releasing initiates soft-start both regulators. (Pin This inverting input internal error amplifier. Connect this output (VOUT1) Buck converter proper sized resistor divider provide feedback loop Buck converter. VOUT1 determined using following formula VOUT1=0.8V where resistor connected from VOUT1 resistor connected from GND. This also monitored under-voltage events.
