APPLICATIONS INFORMATION
CURRENT CONTROL: UDN2927EB dual bridge designed drive both windings bipolar stepper motor. Output current sensed controlled independently each bridge external sense resistor internal comparator, monostable multivibrator. When bridge turned current increases motor winding sensed external sense resistor until sense voltage (VSENSE) reaches level comparator's input: ITRIP VREF/10 comparator then triggers monostable which turns source driver bridge. actual load current peak will slightly higher than trip point (especially low-inductance loads) because internal logic switching delays. This delay (td) typically After turn-off, motor current will normally decay, circulating through external ground clamp diode sink transistor. source driver's time (and therefore magnitude current decrease) determined monostable's external timing components, where toff RTCT within range When source driver re-enabled, winding current (the sense voltage) again allowed rise comparator's threshold. This cycle repeats itself, maintaining average motor winding current desired level. Special circuitry been included prevent runaway current control when fixed time (toff) short. This circuitry prevents source driver from being re-enabled until load current decayed below ITRIP level.

GENERAL: Both bridges have internal flyback diodes (connected from outputs VBB) protection against inductive transients. External ground-clamp diodes (connected from outputs ground) required; Schottky ground-clamp diodes recommended minimize onchip power dissipation. avoid excessive voltage spikes LOAD SUPPLY terminal (VBB), large-value capacitor should connected from ground close possible device.
