DUAL FULL-BRIDGE MOTOR DRIVER
A2918SWH A2918SWV motor drivers designed drive both windings bipolar stepper motor bidirectionally control motors. bridges capable sustaining include internal pulse-width modulation (PWM) control output current current control, maximum output current determined user's selection reference voltage sensing resistor. PHASE input each bridge determines load current direction. Active ENABLE inputs control four drivers each bridge. bridges include both ground clamp flyback diodes protection against inductive transients. Internally generated delays prevent cross-over currents when switching current direction. Special power-up sequencing required. Thermal protection circuitry disables outputs chip temperature exceeds safe operating limits.

Output current sensed controlled independently each bridge external sense resistor (RS), internal comparator, internal monostable multivibrator. When bridge turned current increases motor winding sensed until sense voltage (VSENSE) reaches level comparator's input: ITRIP VREF/10

comparator then triggers monostable which turns source driver bridge. actual load current peak will slightly higher than trip point (especially low-inductance loads) because internal logic switching delays. This delay (td) typically. After turn-off, motor current decays, circulating through ground clamp diode sink transistor. source driver's time toff, therefore magnitude current decrease, determined monostable's external timing components, where toff RTCT within range When source driver re-enabled, winding current (the sense voltage) again allowed rise comparator's threshold. This cycle repeats itself, maintaining average motor winding current desired level. Special circuitry been included prevent runaway current control when toff short. This circuitry prevents source driver from being re-enabled until load current decayed below ITRIP level. Loads with high distributed capacitances result high turn-ON current peaks.
