Installing Drivers Installing Found Hardware Wizard

Installing Using DPInst
case Microsoft WHQL certified driver package, possible pre-install driver package using Microsoft Driver Install Frameworks (DIFx) tools. simplest tool provided Driver Package Installer (DPInst). When placed same directory files driver package, simply DPInst.exe certified driver package will installed machine.
current FTDI driver package supports 32-bit 64-bit systems through common files. DPInst separate executables 32-bit 64-bit installation. This means that single solution desired 32-bit 64-bit systems, developer must able detect which version DPInst required system driver being installed

Installing From Windows Update

Uninstalling Drivers
FTDI longer supply uninstaller program part driver package. Consequently, method uninstalling used. Devices removed using Device Manager simply right-clicking device selecting "Uninstall". This will delete associated registry entries that device only.
Under Windows driver files files must removed manually using custom application. files located Windows\Inf directory identified searching string matching device installed e.g. VID_0403&PID_6001. Once matching files found (e.g. oem10.inf FTDIBUS.INF oem11.inf FTDIPORT.INF), corresponding files must also removed (e.g. oem10.pnf oem11.pnf). Driver files located Windows\System32 Windows\System32\Drivers directories.
Some points note about this un-installation method: case FT2232 devices, composite device also installed. This also removed right-clicking composite device Device Manager selecting "Uninstall". driver been installed, port driver should removed before driver. removed first, port will longer appear Device Manager. driver files deleted while other installed devices still require them those devices will work correctly. This fixed right clicking device selecting "Reinstall Driver" which will replace missing files. device uninstalled connected device still removed setting device manager show phantom devices. Troubleshooting Windows Cannot Find Drivers Device
This error occur programmed into device EEPROM match those listed files driver. programmed into device EEPROM found using USBView utility from FTDI site. These then checked against entries driver files. they match, that driver cannot installed that device without either reprogramming device EEPROM modifying list numbers files. Please note that only your company FTDI's (0x0403) FTDI issued your company should used EEPROM INF/INI files. customers should obtain modified drivers from device, necessarily edit files themselves.
Windows Forces Reboot After Installing Device
This problem occur application accessing file while Hardware Wizard trying copy This usually occurs with FTD2XX.DLL file. Selecting restart computer then unplugging re-plugging device allow device function properly without restarting. Restarting machine will allow device work correctly.
Driver Installation Fails Windows Gives Error Code
Windows error code indicates hardware error failed driver installation. This error appear device insufficient power operate correctly (e.g. plugged into powered with other devices), indicate more serious hardware problem.
