General Description
APX811/812 used microprocessor supervisory circuit monitor power supplies These circuit perform single function: they assert reset signal whenever supply voltage declines below preset threshold, keeping asserted least 240ms after risen above reset threshold. Reset thresholds suitable operation with variety supply voltages available. APX811/812 have push-pull outputs. APX811 active RESET output, while APX812 active high RESET output. APX811/812 devices incorporate manual reset input, level causes RESET become active. APX811/2 targeted 2.5V, 3.3V powered systems available with different threshold voltages meet exact needs system. They available space saving SOT143 package operate over whole industrial temperature range, 85°C.

Application Information
microprocessor's (µP's) reset input starts known state. APX811/812 asserts reset prevent code-execution errors during power-up, power-down, brownout conditions. They assert reset signal whenever supply voltage declines below preset threshold brought low, keeping asserted least 240ms after risen above reset threshold. APX811/812 have push-pull output stage. APX811/812 reset output guaranteed logic APX811 high APX812 Once exceeds reset threshold, internal timer keeps RESET output (and RESET high APX812) reset timeout period. After this interval, APX811's RESET output goes high (APX812's RESET output goes low). brownout condition occurs (VCC dips below reset threshold), APX811's RESET output goes (APX812's RESET output goes high). time goes below reset threshold, internal timer resets zero, RESET goes (RESET goes high). internal timer starts after returns above reset threshold, RESET remains (RESET remains high) reset timeout period. Ensuring Valid Reset Output Down When falls below APX811 RESET longer sinks current- becomes open circuit. Therefore, high-impedance CMOS logic inputs connected RESET drift undetermined voltages. This presents problem most applications since most other circuitry inoperative with below However, applications where RESET must valid down adding pull down resistor RESET causes stray leakage currents flow ground, holding RESET low. R1's value critical; 100k large enough load RESET small enough pull RESET ground. APX812 RESET required remain valid then 100k pull-up resistor between RESET recommended. Benefits Highly Accurate Reset Threshold Most supervisor reset threshold voltages between below value nominal supply voltages. This ensures reset will occur within nominal supply, will occur when supply below nominal. When using rated only nominal supply ±5%, this leaves zone uncertainty where supply between low, where reset asserted.
