INPUT VOLTAGE RANGE important ensure input voltage measured converter input pins within range that converter. Make sure wire losses voltage ripples accounted for. possible problem driving converter with linear unregulated power supply. example, average voltage measured with voltage ripple 3Vpp, actual input swing from 7.5V 10.5V. This will outside specified input range 9-36V converter function properly. other end, make sure actual input voltage does exceed highest voltage or75V.
LEAD WIRES Make sure input output wires adequate size minimize voltage drop, ensure voltage across input terminals above converter's rated minimum voltage times. recommended have wire pairs twisted, respectively input pair output pair, minimize noise pickup.
INPUT CURRENT input voltage source must able provide enough current converter, otherwise start operate properly. typical symptom starting unusually output voltage. general, recommended able provide least: Ipeak 150%*Pout/( *Vmin) where Pout maximum output power, Vmin minimum input voltage converter's efficiency. example, VHB100W-Q24-S5 operate with 9~36 input, output efficiency 83.5%, minimum source current recommended Ipeak 150% (83.5% 19.96
INPUT FUSE limit input current facilitate input reversal protection input protection, fast-acting input fuse recommended input line. fuse rating will depend input range should allow maximum current lowest input volt age, shown this equation: Ipeak 150%*Pout/( *Vmin). previous example VHB100W-Q24-S5, peak input current calculated 19.96 fuse suitable this application. Make sure fuse voltage rating higher than maximum input voltage.
REMOTE SENSE converter provides regulated outputs output terminals. When there large current and/or output cable some length, voltage output cable noticeably lower than terminals. converter compensate 0.5V voltage drop through remote sense terminals. ensure accurate regulation, separate wires (twisted) from desired regulation points remote sense terminals, shown below.

OUTPUT SHORT-CIRCUIT PROTECTION Output overload short circuit conditional will cause output voltage decline shutdown altogether. case temperature
over 100°C, output recovers automatically when short conditions removed. case slight overloading, output voltage shut down, converter build heat over time, causing over-temperature shutdown.
OVER-TEMPERATURE PROTECTION When case temperature reaches about 100°C, converter's built-in protection circuit will shut down output. When temperature reduced enough safe operating level, converter will recover normal operations automatically.
OUTPUT case output voltage exceeds threshold, converter shuts down.
OUTPUT PARALLEL CONNECTIONS converter designed load share output. inclined this circuit force current sharing trimming output voltages each converter. However, this circuit reliably accurately divide load current, device characteristics converters diodes balanced over range operating conditions. generally recommend this circuit increase power output over single converter. Instead, recommend this setup redundancy only, having converter backup case failure. Make sure OR-ing diodes handle voltage full load current.
