AP3710's turn threshold voltage 5.6V turn threshold voltage 3.65V, UVLO hysteresis voltage 1.95V, which helps AP3710 draw adequate energy supply terminal during start-up. Please Figure UVLO chart.

VCC/Feedback Control
Figure opto-coupler secondary constant voltage consists voltage feedback network. Voltage feedback loop consists shunt regulator AZ431 FB/VCC terminal AP3710. When load heavy, voltage terminal will decrease enlarge duty cycle; contrary, load drops, voltage will increase reduce duty cycle.

Current Limit Control
AP3710 employs current mode control improve transient response voltage stability. Figure external inductor current through converted voltage internal resistor, this voltage will participate control duty cycle peak inductor current.
Skip Cycle Mode Operation
AP3710 enters skip cycle mode when load power drops below given level, this performed sensing voltage level, i.e., heavier load power, lower voltage level. normal operation, terminal indicates peak inductance current under certain load power. load power decreases, voltage level increases less peak current. When reaches determined value, prevents current from decreasing further down starts blank output pulses, then enters skip cycle mode operation. Figure sketch operation mode.

Frequency Dithering
Frequency dithering performed periodically spreading single switching frequency into adjacent frequency band, peak energy spread. This technique improve performance reducing both quasi peak average emissions.

Slope Compensation
AP3710 current mode controller, regulates peak inductance current current control loop. known that continuous conduction mode SMPS induce noise harmonic oscillation current sense feedback signal, this especially serious when duty cycle exceeds 50%. internal slope compensation AP3710 improve power supply stability increasing current slope.

Short Circuit Protection
Internal short circuit control protect SMPS from being damaged when short circuit output happens. Figure when drops below turn threshold value, UVLO comparator's output will control Discharge Logic pull terminal level, level kept before voltage drops below threshold value discharge comparator. Then system will re-startup from charging again same process will repeat indefinitely. long start-up period makes input power enough ensure whole system safety under output short circuit condition.
