AP1661 active power factor control which designed mainly pre-converter electronic ballast, AC-DC adapters off-line SMPS applications. AP1661 includes internal start-up timer stand-alone applications, one-quadrant multiplier realize near unity power factor zero current detector ensure boundary conduction operation. totem pole output stage capable driving power MOSFET with 600mA source current 800mA sink current. Designed with advanced BiCMOS process, AP1661 features start-up current, operation current power dissipation. AP1661 also rich protection features including over-voltage protection, input under-voltage lockout with hysteresis multiplier output clamp limit maximum peak current. This available SOIC-8 DIP-8 packages.

AP1661 high performance power factor correction controller which operates boundary conduction mode. converter's switch will turned when inductor current reduces zero turned when sensed inductor current reaches required reference which decided output multiplier.

Error Amplifier Over-Voltage Protection
error amplifier regulates output voltage. internal reference non-inverting input error amplifier 2.5V. error amplifier's inverting input (INV) connected external resistor divider which senses output voltage. output error amplifier inputs multiplier. compensation loop connected outside between error amplifier output. Normally, compensation loop bandwidth very realize high power factor converter. make over voltage protection fast, internal function added. output over voltage happens, excess current will flow into output error amplifier through feedback compensation capacitor. (see Figure AP1661 monitors current flowing into error amplifier output pin. When detected current higher than 40A,
