MAX9830 features industry-leading quiescent current, low-power shutdown mode, comprehensive clickand-pop suppression, excellent immunity. MAX9830 offers Class audio performance with Class efficiency minimal board-space solution. Class amplifier features spread-spectrum modulation combined with edge rate overshoot control circuitry that offers significant improvements switchmode amplifier radiated emissions. MAX9830 includes thermal overload short-circuit protection.

MAX9830 speaker amplifier features Maxim's comprehensive click-and-pop suppression. During startup, click-and-pop suppression circuitry reduces audible transient sources internal device. When entering shutdown, differential speaker outputs ramp down quickly simultaneously.

Applications Information
Filterless Class Operation
Traditional Class amplifiers require output filter. filter adds cost, size, decreases efficiency THD+N performance. MAX9830's filterless modulation scheme does require output filter. Because switching frequency MAX9830 well beyond bandwidth most speakers, voice coil movement switching frequency very small. speaker with series inductance 10µH. Typical speakers exhibit series inductances 20µH 100µH range.
Input Filtering input-coupling capacitor (CIN), conjunction with amplifier's internal input resistance (RIN), forms highpass filter that removes bias from incoming signal. These capacitors allow amplifier bias signal optimum level. Select 0.47µF capacitors optimum click-and-pop performance 17Hz f-3dB. different -3dB required, assuming zerosource-impedance,

Component Selection

MAX9830 TDFN package features exposed thermal underside. This lowers package's thermal resistance providing heat conduction path from PCB. Connect exposed thermal ground plane using large multiple vias.
