Spartan-3A S3D1800A Starter Board included following products: Spartan-3A S3D1800A Starter Platform Embedded Development HW/SW Spartan-3A S3D1800A MicroBlaze Processor Edition XtremeDSP Starter Spartan-3A 1800A Edition
Each these Platforms Kits will include Xilinx Software Development Suite software downloaded from Xilinx software registration site. either case, software must registered part installation process. begin using development software resources, Xilinx Platform Studio (XPS), Intergrated Software Environment Studio (ISE®), System Generator (SysGen), user must first obtain installation keys. user register download these products immediately from Xilinx Registration Download Site.
Determine Which Design Software Install
user already entitled Full seat Foundation Design Software recently purchased Full Foundation Design Software, select check Foundation. user never used Xilinx Design Software purchased Full seat Foundation, then user should consider installing free ISE® WebPACK® Design Software. this case, check WebPACK. Note: select both WebPACK Foundation. user visit Xilinx software
registration entitlement site determine what type software license available Full license, Evaluaton license, Free license.

Determine SysGen Design Suite Installation Required
XtremeDSP Starter Spartan-3A 1800A Edition comes with entitlement FULL seat System Generator (SysGen) Design Suite product. this Starter been purchase, select check System Generator (SysGen). Starter been purchase, user still evaluate SysGen software. this case, select Evaluation version SysGen software. SysGen will allow user develop design WebPACK Foundation will allow user place route design. version both SysGen needs installed.
Registration Install Code
Once registration process been completed, user will presented with installation code. this code install software Xilinx Software with software that download from Xilinx software registration download site.
Verify that Spartan-3A 1800A Platform Functional
Review Spartan3A 1800A Board User Guide found http://www.xilinx.com/s3adspmb. This user guide will provide more information default settings position jumpers.

Hardware Setup
Install jumper configure mode. JP1, JP2, jumpers installed either position. Install jumpers each 1:3, positions JP4, JP5, JP6, JP10. Install jumper JP11 position. must have jumper, this write enable serial flash. other jumpers installed.

Serial Cables
Plug serial cable from RS232 port RS232 connector (P2) board. With Power position, plug supply
HyperTerminal Window
Launch HyperTerminal connected RS232 port. Bits second 19200, Data bits Parity None, Stop bits Flow control None.
Turning Power First Time
Turn Power position. three power supply LEDs, D16, D18, will light. Reset LED, will flash momentarily. blue DONE LED, will turn LEDs through will start walk from right left then start count binary.
HyperTerminal, following text will appear.
