Cell protection features consist internally trimmed charge discharge voltage limits, discharge current limit with delayed shutdown ultra current sleep mode state when cell discharged. Additional features include chip MOSFET reduced external component count charge pump reduced power losses while charging discharging cell voltage battery pack. This protection circuit requires external capacitor able operate safely shutdown presence short circuit condition. MOSFET RDS(on) over-voltage state will higher than RDS(on) during normal operation. voltage drop (and associated power loss) across internal MOSFET this mode operation still significantly lower than typical solution external back-to-back MOSFETs, where body diode conducting. When chip senses under-voltage condition, disconnects load from battery pack shuts itself down minimize current drain from battery.
