Electrical Description
Each display device contains four matrix characters CMOS integrated circuits, shown Figure CMOS integrated circuits form on-board serial-in-parallelout shift register that will accept standard logic levels. Data Input, connected position Data Output, connected position shift register outputs control constant current sinking drivers. nominal current sink driver 11mA HCMS200X displays, HCMS-230X. logic stored shift register enables corresponding driver logic stored shift register disables corresponding driver. electrical configuration these CMOS alphanumeric displays allows effective interface display controller
circuit that supplies decoded character information. data given column (one byte character) loaded (bit serial) into on-board shift register with high transitions Clock input. load decoded character information into display, column data character loaded first column data character loaded last following manner. data bits column character loaded into on-board shift register. Next, data bits column character loaded into shift register, shifting character data over character position. This process repeated other characters until bits column data (four bytes character column data) loaded into on-board shift register. Then column input, VCOL energized illuminate column four characters. This process repeated columns
VCOLinputs should logic insure display when loading data. display will blanked when blanking input logic regardless outputs shift register whether VCOL inputs energized. Refer Application Note 1016 drive circuit information.
Susceptibility
HCMS-200X/-230X series displays have susceptibility ratings CLASS DODSTD-1686 CLASS MILSTD-883C. recommended that normal CMOS handling precautions observed with these devices.

Soldering Post Solder Cleaning
These displays soldered with standard wave solder process using either flux solvent cleaning flux aqueous cleaning. optimum soldering, solder wave temperature should 245°C dwell time display lead passing through wave should seconds. more detailed information, refer Application Note 1027 Soldering Components.
Contrast Enhancement
When used with proper contrast enhancement filters, HCMS-200X/-230X series displays readable bright ambients. Refer Application Note 1029 Luminous Contrast Sunlight Readability HDSP235X Series Alphanumeric Displays Military Applications contrast enhancement bright ambients. Refer Application Note 1015 Contrast Enhancement Techniques Displays information contrast enhancement moderate ambients.
