Error Information Output
open-drain output XERR indicates device error conditions: overtemperature flag open detect. During normal operation, internal transistor connected XERR turned voltage XERR pulled through external pullup resistor. overtemperature open condition detected, internal transistor switched XERR pulled GND. Because XERR open-drain output, multiple AS1112 devices ORed together pulled with single pullup resistor (see Figure page 15). Overtemperature Error/Warning Flags
AS1112 provides overtemperature circuit indicate that device overtemperature condition. device junction temperature (TJ) exceeds threshold temperature (150°C typ), overtemperature circuit trips pulls XERR ground. overtemperature flag status read from AS1112 status register. prevent overtemperature condition AS1112 offers temperature warning flag 125°C typical. This flag used take precautions (e.g. start external cooling) against overtemperature condition.
Open Detection
AS1112 integrated open detection circuit reports error LEDs open disconnected from circuit. open detection circuit trips when error detection activated (see Table voltage OUTn less than VLOD. Note: voltage each OUTn sampled after being switched Please refer Figure open detection circuit also pulls XERR when tripped. open status each channel also read from AS1112 status information data (SID) during greyscale data input cycle.
Shorted Detection

Delay Between Outputs
AS1112 uses graduated delay circuits between OUTn outputs. These circuits contained constant-current driver block AS1112 (see Figure page average-delay time 30ns (typ). maximum delay 450ns (typ) from OUT0 OUT15. delay scheme works switching switching each output channel. Thus on/off time each channel same regardless delay. These delays prevent large inrush currents switching noise that reduce bypass capacitance when outputs switched

AS1112 contains integrated status information register, which accessed greyscale mode (MODE GND). Once signal latches data into greyscale register, input shift register data replaced with status information data (see Figure 13). Greyscale Operation
falling edge signal initiates greyscale cycle. first GSCLK pulse after falling edge increments greyscale counter switches OUTn whose greyscale value does equal zero. Each subsequent rising edge GSCLK increments greyscale counter one. AS1112 compares greyscale value each OUTn channel with greyscale counter value. OUTn whose greyscale values equal counter values switched off. signal after 4096 GSCLK pulses resets greyscale counter zero completes greyscale cycle (see Figure 14).
