BLOCK DESCRIPTION
Comp.
Comp. comparator with hysteresis compare reference voltage with voltage (VS) that result dividing power voltage (VCC) resistors When falls below 1.24 reset signal output. This function enables MB3793 detect abnomality within when power falls abruptly.
Output circuit
output circuit contains RESET output control comparator that compares voltage threshold voltage release RESET output voltage exceeds threshold value. Since reset (RESET) output buffer CMOS organization, pull-up resistor needed.
Pulse generator
pulse generator generates pulses when voltage clock pins changes High from level (positive-edge trigger) exceeds threshold voltage; sends clock signal watchdog timer.
Watchdog timer
watchdog timer monitor clock pulses. Short-circuit clock pins monitor single clock pulse.
Inhibition
inhibition (INH) forces watchdog timer on/off. When this High level, watchdog timer stopped.
Logic circuit
logic circuit contains flip-flops. Flip-flop RSFF1 controls charging discharging power-on reset time setting capacitor (CTP). Flip-flop RSFF2 turns on/off circuit that accelerates charging power-on reset time setting capacitor (CTP) reset. RSFF2 operates only reset; does operate power-on reset when power turned

When consecutive pulses occur side this alternation before switching, second pulse ignored. above figure, pulse ignored.
OPERATION SEQUENCE
Positive clock pulse input
Basic operation (positive clock pulse)" under DIAGRAM."
Negative clock pulse input
Basic operation (negative clock pulse)" under DIAGRAM." MB3793 operates same whether inputs positive negative pulses.
Clock monitoring
MB3793 while monitoring only clock, connect clock pins CK2. Although MB3793 operates basically same when monitoring clocks, monitors clock signal every other input pulse. Single-clock input monitoring (positive clock pulse)" under DIAGRAM."
Description Operations
numbers given following items correspond numbers (13) used DIAGRAM." MB3793 outputs reset signal when supply voltage (VCC) reaches about (VCCL) reaches exceeds rise-time detected voltage VSH, MB3793 starts charging power-on reset hold time setting capacitor this time, output remains reset state. value about 3.79 When been charged certain period time (until voltage exceeds threshold voltage (Vth) after start charging), MB3793 cancels reset (setting RESET level from level).

When voltage watchdog timer monitor time setting reaches level threshold voltage switches from charge state discharge state. value always about 1.24 regardless detected voltage. inputs clock pulse (positive edge trigger) when being discharged CK1-CK2 order simultaneously, switches from discharge state charge state. MB3793 repeats operations long CK1/CK2 inputs clock pulses with system logic circuit operating normally. clock pulse within watchdog timer monitor time some problem with system logic circuit, level threshold voltage less MB3793 outputs reset signal (setting RESET level from level). value always about 0.24 regardless detected voltage. watchdog timer monitor time with following equation: (ms) (µF) value hardly affected supply voltage; about 1500 with When certain period time passed (until voltage reaches exceeds again after recharging CTP), MB3793 cancels reset signal starts operating watchdog timer. watchdog timer monitor reset time with following equation: (ms) (µF) value about with MB3793 repeats operations long CK1/CK2 inputs clock pulses. clock pulse input, MB3793 repeats operations (7). lowered fall-time detected voltage (VSL) less, voltage decreases MB3793 outputs reset signal (setting RESET level from level). value When reaches exceeds again, MB3793 starts charging (10) When voltage reaches exceeds Vth, MB3793 cancels reset restarts operating watchdog timer. repeats operations long CK1/CK2 inputs clock pulses. (11) Making inhibit active (setting from "L") forces watchdog timer stop operation. This stops only watchdog timer, leaving MB3793 monitoring (operations (10)). watchdog timer remains inactive unless inhibit input canceled. (12) Canceling inhibit input (setting from "H") restarts watchdog timer. (13) reset signal output when power supply turned less.
