GENERAL DESCRIPTION
CAV414 universal multipurpose interface capacitive sensors contains complete signal processing unit chip. CAV414 detects relative capacitive change measuring capacity fixed reference capacity. optimised capacities wide range 10pF with possible changes capacity 100% reference capacity. voltage output formed high accuracy instrumentation amplifier combination with operational amplifier. With only external components, CAV414 suitable great variety applications including zero compensation.

FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
CAV414
reference oscillator with frequency adjusted capacity COSC drives symmetrically built integrators synchronously clock phase. capacitors determine amplitude driven integrators. difference integrator amplitudes gives relative change capacities each other with high common mode rejection high resolution. difference signal conditioned lowpass filter. corner frequency gain adjusted with external components. output lowpass filter connected instrumentation amplifier output stage. These stages transform signal into adjustable voltage. Adjustment: zero-adjustment made resistors RCX1 RCX2 case that varying capacitance nearly same (and smallest) value fixed capacitance (reference capacitance). Therefore this resistors varied until differential voltage VDIFF VLPOUT zero: VDIFF Application Example: following values given: fixed capacitance CX1: varying capacitance CX2: Calculation: With equations given boundary conditions, following values devices calculated: COSC: CL1: CL2: 80pF 10nF 10nF 50pF 100pF
