XE924M Base Access Point Multiple Remote Machines
Description Xecom combines proven embedded modem technology transceiver XE924M, Base Access Point. Base Access Point simple scheme connect remote systems single dial-up telephone line. Each remote system communicates with Base Access Point using Xecom's XE900M Smart Transceiver. XE924M eliminates hardware redundancy, therefore reduces both initial investment operating costs. Xecom's Base Access Network significantly reduces hardware costs locations with multiple systems. example, credit card verification normally requires dedicated modem telephone line each sales terminal. Each time terminal added another modem another telephone line also need added. Base Access Point connects terminals through shared modem telephone line. only hardware requirement addition XE900M Smart Transceiver terminal equipment. This scheme eliminates installation requirements wired network. Whether system equipped with Smart Transceiver network build facility, wireless link eliminates need install cables configure server. virtue commonality with millions cordless telephones XE924M also offers most cost effective wireless link available. XE924M reduces hardware costs multiple system environments. Systems which require dedicated modem telephone line each unit connected through shared modem telephone line.

XE924M COMMUNICATIONS CONTROLLER
Hardware: low-cost micro-controller performs duties communications controller XE924M. This microcontroller manages network data translation between transceiver embedded modem. embedded modem Xecom's XE2420, 2400 modem. This modem includes dedicated controller modem functions including commands. serial interface signals from XE2420 brought XE924M's pins diagnostic purposes. Network network controlled XE924M supports nodes eight remote systems. these systems communicate with XE924M using Xecom's XE900M Smart Transceiver. XE924M XE900M utilize half-duplex channel single carrier frequency, 916.48 MHz. XE924M communications controller manages this channel preventing collisions, correcting errors, reversing channels. Carrier Sense Multiple Access (CSMA) primary tool used prevent collisions between systems CSMA protocol each transceivers. XE900M XE924M units network listen communications activity 916.48 band before initiating session. Count-off Function count-off function permits Base Access Point quickly check status network nodes. When count-off command, AT#C: AT#C=, broadcast Base Access Point each node responds predetermined time slot. time slot determined address assigned node. node's response count-off command contains user-programmable byte data packet. This data packet programmed with AT#E: AT#E= command. count-off function also initiated from XE900M acting network hub. Data Packets XE924M places data incoming across modem link into packets. Likewise XE900M places data arriving through serial port into packets. These packets providing addressing error correction wireless communications link. communications controllers XE900M XE924M place data packets only wireless link. data extracted from packets before being sent modem XE900M serial port. Wireless Link Modem Link Translation Data wireless link travels packets 9600 BPS. communications controller strips data from packets before transmitting through modem. Because maximum data rate modem connection 2400 BPS, communications controller buffers data, sends modem 2400 BPS. While this happening incoming data from modem buffered held until wireless channel reversed. When wireless channel available transmit, data buffer into packets transmitted over transceiver 9600 BPS. communications controller also manages modem's connections. commands entered remote node placed packets passed across wireless link XE900M. XE924M Communications Controller removes command from packet, passes modem, waits modem response. modem response packet returned XE900M equipped node. routing incoming modem calls will also handled communications controller. After modem answers incoming call establishes connection, XE924M Communications Controller waits entry desired node address before directing call proper node.

XE924M EMBEDDED MODEM
modem embedded XE924M includes Part Registration. This registration applied user equipment without additional certification testing. Modem Control Industry standard Commands perform control configuration embedded modem. change modem configuration initiate call, remote node network sends desired commands across wireless link data. XE924M communications controller passes commands modem where they executed. modem responses returned across wireless link remote node. Command Line Format Command lines issued modem follow strict format. Each command begins with prefix ends with Carriage Return. XE924M communications controller sends commands embedded modem 2400 BPS. modem uses command prefix automatically determine parity incoming characters. Command Prefix Each command, except command, begins with prefix. either both upper case both lower case cannot different cases. prefix identifies speed parity commands sent modem host. Speed determined measuring width incoming bits. Parity determined comparing parity "T." Command Line Commands strung together single command line characters. modem executes commands command string sequence they appear. Spaces inserted into command line fill space modem's command buffer. Carriage Return terminates command line causes commands executed. Register allows user select character other than Carriage Return terminate command line. Re-Execute Last Command command reexecutes last command line. This only command which does require "AT" prefix. Omitted Parameters Most commands include parameter which determines function setting. When command parameter omitted from command string, assumed Result Codes modem normally issues result code after each action. Result codes provided full words, digit numeric codes, disabled. Each result code ends with Carriage Return when numeric result codes chosen. When full word result codes chosen, Line Feed Carriage Return precede follow each result code. Escape Sequence specific character repeated three times succession switches modem from data mode command mode. character used this sequence defined register default sequence "+++." Command must entered within period defined complete switch command mode.
