XE900SL10 COMMUNICATIONS CONTROLLER
XE900SL10 uses internal micro-controller control communications. This micro-controller manages interface host system, determines when communications link available, formats data communications. HOST INTERFACE There primary interfaces between XE900SL10 system host; serial interface direct sensor interface supported SensorOnAirfeature. Management both interfaces responsibility communications controller. Serial Interface 4-signal serial interface links host XE900SL10. most applications XE900SL10 acts DCE. Control configuration XE900SL10 takes place through serial interface using modem-like commands. Serial data rates from 1200 bits second 115.2K bits second supported. serial interface signals listed below. /TXD Transmit Data; input XE900SL10 commands Data transmitted wireless network. /RXD Received Data; output from XE900SL10 received data responses commands. /RTS Request Send, provides hardware flow control input XE900SL10. removes stop XE900S from sending more data line. /CTS Clear Send, hardware flow control output from XE900SL10. XE900SL10 deactivates Clear Send advise then host stop inputting data lead. XE900SL10 Command Format commands issued XE900SL10 follow strict format. Each command begins with prefix ends with carriage return. XE900SL10 communications controller accepts commands data rates from 1200 115,200 bps. default serial data rate 9600 chnaged using reister S-23. modem uses command prefix automatically determine parity incoming characters. Command Prefix Each command, except command, begins with prefix. either both upper case both lower case cannot different cases. prefix identifies parity commands sent XE900SL10 comparing parity bits characters. Command Line Commands strung together single command line characters. Commands command string executed sequence they appear. Omitted Parameters Most commands include parameter which determines function setting. When command parameter omitted from command string, assumed Result Codes result code normally issued after each action. Result codes provided full words, digit numeric codes, disabled together. Each result code ends with carriage return when numeric result codes chosen. When full word result codes chosen, Line Feed Carriage Return precede follow each result code. Disconnect Sequence three character sequence initiates disconnect wireless link. sequence assigned disconnect link. DIRECT CONNECTION SENSORS: SensorOnAirSensors connected directly XE900SL10 without requiring applications controller. this SensorOnAir configuration XE900SL10 communications controller controls operation sensors. Sensor Lines SensoronAir controls operation lines XE900SL10. This includes analog inputs, ADC0 ADC1, digital lines, DIO0, DIO1, DIO2, DIO3. ADC0 ADC1 connected 12-bit analog digital converter using volt reference derived from their reference voltage. digital lines programmed either inputs outputs.

Configuring XE900SL10 Sensor Operation SensorOnAir control functions analog inputs digital I/O's performed communications controller within XE900SL10. Modem-like commands loaded through serial interface, program functions analog digital lines. commands used program SensorOnAir functions then stored XE900SL10's Flash memory. This allows XE900SL10 first programmed then installed application. communications controller uses information stored Flash memory control analog digital lines. SensorOnAir CommandsBelow list commands used program direct control sensors using communications controller XE900SL10.
S107 Defines function programmable lines. analog input lines, ADC0 ADC1, also defined digital lines needed. four programmable digital lines, DIO0, DIO1, DIO2, DIO3; either inputs outputs. value this command stored flash memory within XE900SL10.
WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS communications controller manges Link. This includes frequency hopping algorithm spread spectrum operation; collision avoidance, node addressing, packetizing data. communications controller allows support point-to-point, point-tomultipoint multipoint networks. Carrier Sense Multiple Access (CSMA) prevent collisions between network nodes XE900SL10 uses Carrier Sense Multiple Access protocol each network transceiver. normal communications nodes, including Master node point-to-multipoint network, listen communications activity before initiating session. wireless link already exists, transceiver waits until that session complete before initiating wireless link. Data Packets data presented system host placed into packets XE900SL10 communications controller transmission across wireless link. These packets provide addressing error correction wireless communications. communications controllers place data packets only wireless link. data extracted from packets before being sent tout serial interface. Multipoint Network System designers using XE900SL10 create point-to-multipoint network with remote nodes. master node assigned address remote nodes assigned address from 253. insure network operated efficiently, Xecom created Count-Off. Count-Off allows master node poll entire network less than seconds

Count-Off Function Count-Off function permits master Node point-to-multipoint system quickly check status network nodes. creates temporary time division multiplexing scheme which permits each node report status without handshaking sequence normally required wireless data exchange. Count-Off sequence initiated command, AT#C: AT#C=, from host system. Master node broadcasts Count-Off command network nodes. Upon receipt Count-Off broadcast each remote node initializes internal timer. Then sequence address each node sends 8-byte status message Master. status message programmed with AT#E: AT#E= command. That status byte passed host system. Using Count-Off network reporting will completed less than seconds. Based status information host then elect service remote nodes.
