Single Axis Accelerometer
Model ACL1
Electronics' Model ACL1 single axis accelerometer which provides 0-5V linear output voltage proportional applied acceleration ranging from ±2g's. This data useful such applications measuring tilt, orientation acceleration detecting motion. Simply supply unit with 5VDC ground through attached foot shielded cable. third conductor cable output signal, providing linear voltage proportional force acceleration. Electronics' products (such 232SDA10) provide inexpensive method logging data computer. Figure shows typical connection Electronics' Model 232SDA12 module. Connections ACL1 should connected regulated 5VDC power supply. lead connection, black ground, white wire signal output. uninsulated conductor cable shield drain wire. cable shield terminated sensor end. unit being used with Electronics' series analog digital converters, power derived from connection unit. Note that self-powering 232SDA series unit from RS-232 port, power that drawn from 232SDA limited, power supply required. white wire signal output connection. Mounting ACL1 should mounted firmly surface unit under test. ACL1 sensitive vibration well linear acceleration. linear acceleration being recorded, choose mounting location free from vibration possible. important align sensitive axis unit with direction under study closely possible. However, small amount alignment error will greatly affect measurements. Table shows relationship alignment error output signal error. Note that with alignment error, additional signal error 0.06%, relatively small source error. important note well that accelerations near perpendicular sensitive axis will have more significant impact. there will forces axis other than sensitive axis, more care should taken aligning ACL1 minimize error output signal. example, assume ACL1 mounted with mounting error forces each applied axis. force direction will result reading 0.994g's, small error 0.006 g's. However, force from axis will contribute error 0.0349 g's.
