INTRODUCTION RS-232 port uses female DB9S type connector, RS422/RS-485 port uses terminal blocks. terminal blocks marked circuit board their appropriate function. There option terminal blocks RS-232 side DB25S female connector RS-422/RS485 side. Contact Technical Support need further assistance.
INTERCONNECTION 422RMCON WITH ANOTHER RS-422 DEVICE: polarity RS-422 lines must correct. With data being sent, RS-232 line should negative. terminal RS-422 Transmit Data line should positive with respect terminal.
wire recommended RS-422 Standard number copper conductor, twisted pair telephone cable with shunt capacitance 16pf foot. long runs and/or high data rates, recommended that wires terminated with resistor receive end. twisted pair usually used impedance about ohms; therefore, watt resistor normally used termination. RS-422 side converter requires more power transmission line length increased, termination resistor value reduced. Therefore, necessary termination resistor that larger than ohms. RS-422 driver ability drive RS-422 receivers connected parallel. system multiple receivers require some experimentation with location size termination resistors, line lengths, grounding, etc.
OPERATION RS-232 RS-485 CONVERTER: Model 422RMCON RS-232 RS-485 converter, jumpers must "485" position. Request Send (RTS) RS-232 side used enable disable RS-485 driver. this configuration, receive lines RS-485 side disabled while transmitting from RS-232 side. enable receiver while transmitting ("echo back"), simply move "422" position. operate 422RMCON two-wire RS-485 mode, must jumper TD(A) RD(A), TD(B) RD(B). 422RMCON also configured enable RS-485 driver from data sensed RS-232 Transmit Data line. With this type configuration, don't need control RS-485 driver. this mode, move jumper JP3.
