Catch Diode output must capable sustained short, rating must above ultra fast diode with soft recovery characteristics Schottky will adequate. major impact Schottky versus ultra fast efficiency. Schottkys will provide approximately improvement output voltage below 12V, whereas above difference will become less significant. Breakdown rating must excess margin. Input Capacitor value shown will adequate most applications. Ripple voltage switching frequency caused input capacitor supplying load current during time power switch. switching type capacitor will minimize ripple acceptable level. Layout short connections with central point ground prevent improper operation caused stray inductance ground loops. Output Capacitor Ripple voltage VOUT directly related value COUT internal resistance COUT.
