AL3000 Overview
AL3000 provides necessary functions implement Routing Network Management RoX-II based Fast Ethernet Gigabit Ethernet Switching System. AL3000 designed interface Motorola PowerPC Series, although AL3000 could easily interface with 32-bit microprocessor (non-PCI bus) with glue logic. AL3000 integrates high performance IPv4 Routing/Switching Network Management engines. These engines perform following major functions: Routing Engine Four Quality Service (QoS) Queues that support programmable weighted round-robin strict priority feed high-speed L3/L4 search engines IPv4 parser that classifies frames processes exception handling Routing Table Search function that performs L3/L4 search supporting 131,000 route entries, performs route table aging maintains usage counters Field Replacement function that performs L2/L3/L4 field replacements re-calculates L3/L4 checksums Route Trace function that provides frame header information
Network Management Engine Provides services transmit receive Ethernet frames from RoX-II high-speed channels Gathers address updates real-time Bridge support conjunction with RoX-II Ethernet switch devices, provides SpanningTree support Provides access internal registers RoX-II switch devices their associated devices Provides Ethernet related (EtherType), related, RMON network statistics counters counters port)
