Overview
CT-GWC3336 part family products targeted gateways that bridge traditional circuit cell/packet switched networks. single CT-GWC3336 supports full-duplex voice connections with without) compression, echo cancellation side), comprehensive tone/announcement processing telephony features well complete AAL1, AAL2, support. main function CT-GWC3336 provide format conversion switching between individual voice streams, flowing across packetized voice conventional circuit switched voice highways. Each voice channel from side echo canceled, compressed, packetized transmission over packet network. reverse direction, each packetized voice channel from packet network buffered de-jittering, decompressed, terminated interface. CT-GWC3336 interfaces circuit switched networks through standard-compliant interface packet network through Utopia level-2 interface cells POS-PHY interface variable size packets. CT-GWC3336 supports layer control plane traffic transport over packet network (for example, signaling voice over AAL2). Control plane messages received from packet network split routed host processor, while user plane traffic scheduled voice processing then routed highway. Voice traffic from highway merged with control plane traffic from host processor transmission packet network.
Additionally, single CT-GWC3336 supports over subscription A(AAL2) interface, where type refresh messages from channels transported to-and-from host processor enable call setup tear-down functions. CT-GWC3336 controlled managed host processor that provides call-control functions. addition chip configuration management, host processor dynamically sets tears down connections within CT-GWC3336's switching fabric per-call basis. CT-GWC3336 also reports call statistics per-call basis well periodic basis. Off-chip local memory needed store switching fabric tables, received cells packets, voice samples, echo cancellation contexts, programs, networking programs. local memory implemented with 64-Mbit SDRAM devices optimum cost, power, area. CT-GWC3336 voice processor stacked higher capacity DS3) voice over packet functionality. CT-GWXXX family devices designed easy upgradeability. Voice compression, echo cancellation, telephony features performed Centillium Communications' proprietary programmable DSP. Networking functionality performed embedded RISC processor.
