DESCRIPTION
SA06 pulse width modulation amplifier that supply 5000W load. internal oscillator requires external components. clock input stage divides oscillator frequency two, which provides switching frequency 22.5 kHz. External oscillators also used lower switching frequency synchronize multiple amplifiers. Current sensing provided each half bridge giving amplitude direction data. shutdown input turns four drivers bridge output. high side current limit programmable side current limit protect amplifier from shorts supply ground addition load shorts. bridge output MOSFETs protected from thermal overloads directly sensing temperature die. 12-pin hermetic MO-127/40S power package occupies only square inches board space.

Switching noise spikes will invariably found SENSE pins. noise spikes could trip current limit threshR LIMIT which only RFILTER SENSE CFILTER should adjusted reduce switching LIMIT noise well below prevent false curSHUTDOWN rent limiting. LIMIT/SHDN SIGNAL FILTER level plus SHDN FILTER noise peak will determine current limiting FIGURE CURRENT LIMIT WITH value. most SHUTDOWN CURRENT MODE. switching circuits difficult determine true noise amplitude without careful attention grounding oscilloscope probe. shortest possible ground lead probe connect exactly terminal amplifier. GENERAL

CLOCK CIRCUIT RAMP GENERATOR
clock frequency internally frequency approximately 45kHz. will normally tied pin. clock divided applied network which produces ramp signal -PWM/ RAMP pin. external clock signal applied synchronization purposes. clock frequency lower than 45kHz chosen external capacitor must tied -PWM/RAMP pin. This capacitor, which parallels internal capacitor, must selected that ramp oscillates volts with lower peak volts above ground.

PROTECTION CIRCUITS
addition externally programmable current limit there also fixed internal current limit which senses only high side current. nominally 140% continuous rated output current. Should either outputs shorted ground high side current limit will latch output transistors. Also, temperature output transistors continually monitored. Should fault condition occur which raises temperature output transistors 165°C thermal protection circuit will activate also latch output transistors. either case, will necessary remove fault condition recycle power restart circuit.

BYPASSING
Adequate bypassing power supplies required proper operation. Failure cause erratic efficiency operation well excessive ringing outputs. supply should bypassed with least ceramic capacitor parallel with another capacitor least 10µF output current. Capacitor types rated switching applications only types that should considered. bypass capacitors must physically connected directly power supply pins. Even inch lead length will cause excessive ringing outputs. This very fast switching times inductance lead connection. bypassing requirements supply less stringent, still necessary. .1µF .47µF ceramic capacitor connected directly will suffice.
CURRENT LIMIT
There load current sensing pins, SENSE SENSE pins shorted voltage mode connection both must used current mode connection (see figures recommended that RLIMIT resistors non-inductive. Load current flows SENSE pins. avoid errors lead lengths SENSE connect LIMIT/ SHDN directly LIMIT SENSE LIMIT resistors (through filter net1K SHUTDOWN work shutdown LIMIT/SHDN FILTER SIGNAL vider resistor) connect RLIMIT resisR SHDN FILTER tors directly pin.

STARTUP CONDITIONS
high side channel output bridge circuit driven bootstrap circuit charge pump arrangement. order circuit produce 100% duty cycle indefinitely side each half bridge circuit must have previously been condition. This means, turn, that input signal SA06 startup demanding 100% duty cycle, output follow command tristate condition. ramp signal must cross input signal some point correctly determine output state.
