General Description
NMI's AllianceCOREEvaluation Card intended allow developers quickly evaluate functionality peripheral memory controller cores. Developers also test, using real target hardware, modifications cores and/or their peripheral logic. This increases confidence that user designs will fully functional when integrated into final target hardware platform.
Functional Description
Evaluation Card's host i486DXand both (e.g. i486DXand i486DX2TM) +3.3V (e.g. i486DX4TM) versions supported. operating voltage auto-sensed using standard Intel 486DX4mechanism. i486DXhas general purpose, high speed synchronous this allows developers easily migrate designs other microprocessor system interfaces. clock speed number frequencies ranging from 16MHz 66MHz (although Intel 486DX4is limited 50MHz maximum). clock distributed using individual, skew (PLL controlled) clock drivers each Xilinx PLD's. XC95216 system controller CPLD only required device provides basic state address decoding. NMI's AllianceCORE DRAM Controller also integrated into this device, providing board with increased memory resources. central resource boot EPROM, Flash EPROM, SRAM RS232 serial port with which built debug test monitor. optional XC4KXL device used provide memory controller function instead XC95216 (the XC95216 still required system though). single, industry standard DRAM SIMM connector provided board, allowing standard SIMM module with either banks DRAM. Assembly language coded fill test commands which ensure maximum bandwidth utilization memory. These commands very useful stress testing designs. Software assembler disassembler (80186 instruction set). File transfer serial port. Includes binary format plus Intel Microsoft program loaders. Basic emulator ease user test software development. Built macro language. XC95216 devices configured single JTAG chain easily programmed using XACTstep JTAG CPLD Programmer software. XC4K devices programmed using asynchronous peripheral mode debug monitor; alternatively each device provided with separate serial download cable connection. Evaluation Card powered from single, +20V input. Switched-mode power converters used, resulting heat dissipation board (other than CPU). power supplies protected against input voltage reversal. Evaluation Card will approved NMI.
