GENERAL DESCRIPTION
AMS3102 series consists positive fixed adjustable voltage regulators ideally suited battery-powered systems. These devices feature very quiescent current 0.3mA less when supplying 10mA loads. This unique characteristic extremely input-output differential required proper regulation (0.25V output currents 100mA) make AMS3102 ideal standby power systems. Internal circuitry AMS3102 protected from input fault conditions caused reverse battery installation input voltages that exceed maximum rated input voltage. During line transients, such load dump (40V) when input voltage regulator momentarily exceed specified maximum operating voltage, regulator will automatically shut down protect both internal circuits load. AMS3102 series also includes internal current limiting, thermal shutdown, able withstand temporary power-up with mirror-image insertion. AMS3102 offered 3-pin TO-92 package, SOT-89, lead SOT-23, lead SOT-23 lead SOIC packages. device provided with On/Off SOT-23 lead SOIC package.

Definition Terms
Typical application circuit (adjustable output)
Dropout Voltage: input-output voltage differential which circuit stops regulate against further reduction input voltage. Measured when output voltage dropped 100mV from nominal voltage obtained input, dropout voltage dependent upon load current junction temperature. Input Voltage: voltage applied input terminal with respect ground. Input-Output Differential: voltage difference between unregulated input voltage regulated output voltage which regulator will regulate. Line Regulation: change output voltage change input voltage. line regulation measured under conditions dissipation using duty cycle pulse testing such that average chip temperature significantly affected. Load Regulation: change output voltage change load current constant chip temperature. Long term stability: Output voltage stability under accelerated life-test conditions after 1000 hours with maximum rated voltage junction temperature. Output Noise Voltage: voltage output, with constant load input ripple, measured over specified frequency range. Quiescent Current: That part positive input current that does contribute positive load current. regulator ground lead current. Ripple Rejection: ratio peak-to -peak input ripple voltage peak-to-peak output ripple voltage specified frequency. Temperature Stability percentage change output voltage thermal variation from room temperature either temperature extreme. External capacitor
AMS3102 series require output capacitor 2.2µF greater ensure device stability. Without capacitor device oscillate. Most type tantalum electrolytic capacitor used applications. critical characteristic capacitors value less resonant frequency above 500kHz. value this capacitor increased without limits. higher loads, value capacitor should increased, specially when output voltage 2.5V less. AMS3102 lowest fixed output voltage value 2.0V.
