MICROPOWER MULTIPLYING CONVERTER
GENERAL DESCRIPTION ALD1801 8-bit monolithic current output digital analog converter designed provide power, operating voltage simple operation. offers industry configuration DAC-08 types, intended wide range digital analog conversion control applications single power supply dual power supply systems, well +12V battery operated systems. Device characteristics specified single supply 3.3V dual supply systems. APPLICATIONS NOTES: ALD1801 multiplying converter. been designed operate with standard single split power supplies ±5V. Functionality extends down ±1.5V power supply, making ideal lithium battery rechargeable battery operated systems where power efficiency performance important design parameters. ALD1801 features ultra quiescent bias current which depends operating current internal current steering circuit. high gain internal operational amplifier fully compensated stable operation without need external capacitor compensation. operational amplifier placed negative feedback loop generate reference current ratio matched transistors. trimmed provide nonlinearity specified. some applications this feature used along with multiplying nature ALD1801 obtain digital analog conversion with external switches. ALD1801 multiplying converter which output current that function digital input word multiplied reference current. reference current fixed reference current varying input current. fixed reference voltage varying impedance voltage output source used, fixed value resistor (referred RREF) used convert voltage into reference current most applications. precision fixed resistor without trimming. Trimming accomplished adjusting RREF through either connecting potentiometer series with fixed resistor substituting fixed resistor with multiturn potentiometer. recommended nominal value 25K. ALD1801 operate from single power supply dual supplies ±6.6V. Symmetrical supplies required case dual supply operation.
