Description
LS1000 single port interface Gbit Ethernet switching. integrates memory control, buffer management, address translation logic. When combined with I-Cube Switching Element like LS201 27-Port Switching Element LS211 49-Port Switching Element, LS1000 provides cost scaleable switched Ethernet solution. LS1000 supports 1000BASE-TX, 1000BASE-FX Gigabit Ethernet specifications. features this device include 802.1p 802.1Q support Quality Service (QOS) applications, management support insertion proprietary switching information packet Interface Layer routing software. Figure gives overview functional blocks that included LS1000.

Introduction
LS1000 port interface controller Ethernet SwitchSetTM. When combined with other members family provides backbone scaleable, non-blocking, switching architecture. these features lies I-Cube's Digital Crosspoint Switch (DCS) technology switch fabric. Figure shows LS1000, LS120 10/100 Mbit quad port controller, LS202 StackLink controller LS211 49-port switching element combined create scaleable workgroup switch. Variations this architecture used backbone stackable switch applications. Additionally, when used with LS211, multiple LS1000's used create multi-port Gigabit switch.

"Smart" unmanaged switches handled using cost microcontroller that connected directly LS125 µAccess Interface. microcontroller used configure switch used provide basic user interface (e.g., switches, serial interface, front panel) system monitoring functions.
