High Linearity Amplifier Series Introduction EiC's High Linearity Amplifier family made series high reliability Amplifiers with high linearity. They matched specific frequency band application from 50MHz 3GHz. output P1dB from 24dBm. versions. OIP3 typically 40dBm
They packaged SOT89 package thermal dissipation. parts were designed with thermal resistance provide junction temperatures long lifetimes. Unlike Darlington amplifier family, high linearity family maintains high OIP3 over usable frequency range while requiring external matching circuits good various frequency bands (see datasheet details each commonly used frequency band), parts with temperature compensation, bias line temperature stabilizing resistor needed. InGaP offers Reliability Quality proprietary InGaP provides excellent reliability used infrastructure industry. Since external matching circuit required, grounding inductance also requires attention. high grounding inductance layout could cause gain reduction. recommended layout datasheet. Multiple holes recommended both electrical grounding inductance thermal resistance. amplifier biased through inductor choke. User choose value each application frequency band. choke inductor needs able accommodate bias current. blocking capacitors both input output required well. Temperature Stabilization bipolar transistors have negative temperature coefficient Vbe(temperature). BJT, about -2mV/oC, GaAs -1mV/oC. result, curve circuit will shift lower voltage temperature rises. This more severe circuit with twice large temperature coefficient. EC1089 ECG009 high linearity amplifier family have built temperature compensation circuit. They biased from supply directly without using temperature stabilizing resistor between power supply choke. ECG014 ECG015 have temperature compensation built inside Although they operate from power supply, temperature variation exceed application limit. temperature stabilizing resistor inserted between power supply choke reduce performance variation over temperature bias current change. However temperature stabilizing resistor means power supply voltage higher than Conclusion EiC's InGaP High Linearity Amplifier Series offer high linearity, good gain, high reliability. Careful thermal design assures cool operation temperature. Crosscheck between product burn-in transistor life test result validates both tests.
