ES1879 AudioDrive® solution mixed-signal single-chip device that provides 16-bit stereo sound music synthesis notebook computers. compliant with Microsoft® PC98 specifications WHQL audio requirements. ES1879 includes embedded microcontroller, OPL3superset ESFMmusic synthesizer, 16-bit stereo wave CODEC, 16bit stereo system DAC, 16-bit stereo music DAC, 16-bit stereo DAC, optional Plug Play (PnP) support, hardware master volume control, control logic with FIFO, interface logic, general-purpose I/O, digital dual game port. ES1879 also incorporates three serial ports which allow interfacing with external DSP, wavetable, MIDI (MPU-401 UART mode compatible). addition, ES1879 offers Zoom Video interface support optional ES978 Expansion Audio Mixer docking stations. four-wire expansion analog two-wire serial control connect ES1879 with ES978, allowing ES1879 engage docking station's audio resources when docked. ES1879 AudioDrive® record, compress, play back voice, sound, music with built-in mixer controls. Using high-performance channels, ES1879 supports fullduplex operation simultaneous record playback. channel supports bidirectional data transfers other supports playback. ES1879 AudioDrive® supports optional Plug Play with configuration logical devices: configuration device, audio plus ESFMsynthesis, game port, MPU-401. integrated audio effects processor uses technology from Spatializer® Audio Laboratories, Inc. expands sound field emitted speakers create resonant sound environment. MPU-401 hardware interfacing with external MIDI serial port. ES1879 music allows external wavetable (ES689/ES69x) connected wavetable serial port. address, DMA, interrupt selection controlled through system software Plug Play. serial interface ES1879 allows external take over resources. ES1879 supports telegaming architecture with headsets includes data paths host-based Acoustic Echo Cancellation processing. enhanced dual game port supports hardware timing interrupt generation that eliminates need polling.
