Description
Model self contained, powered, signal conditioning module bridge type instrumentation. contains precision differential instrumentation amplifier with filtered output highly regulated, noise, adjustable output bridge excitation source. unit completely encapsulated rugged environments.
Safe Operation Unsafe Area
curve (Figure describes region safe operating output current each voltage setting level. excitation desired Volt level with 150mA, this accomplished using resistor least Watts size series with bridge. right value resistor would drop Volts allowing Volts 150mA across bridge while minimizing internal heating Model 465. sense line would regulate supply required Volts. Normal operation single bridges Volts under 100mA (all 120, 350, bridges) accomplished within safe operating area.
Transducer Excitation
Transducer bridge excitation provided line powered, adjustable, well regulated, noise power supply. excitation voltage adjusted means molded-in potentiometer, which allows output voltage varied from Volts. output ripple extremely line load regulation 0.05%. sense lines minimize variations output voltage with changes load current lead resistance. should noted that sense feature being used, terminal must connected terminal Terminals must connected also. supply will provide 150mA output current. These features make unit ideal with most common strain gage bridge circuits 120, 350, Ohms. supply short circuit protection protect against short term faults. output recovers automatically from short circuit conditions once short removed.

Instrumentation Amplifier
built-in amplifier true differential input, noise, drift, instrumentation amplifier. high common mode rejection ratio (CMRR) provided with output offset that potentiometer adjustable. minimum gain setting amplifier maximum gain using built-in potentiometer 250. gain adjusted maximum 1,000 means external resistor connected across terminals size external resistor calculated using gain formula specifications. When doing this coarse gain potentiometer should turned fully clockwise. fine gain then used final gain adjustment. output offset adjustment range ±0.5V. amplifier withstand input voltages Volts without damage. output amplifier filtered down using double pole Butterworth response filter minimize effects high frequency electrical physical noise system. output amplifier Volts making compatible with modern data acquisition techniques systems.

FIGURE Typical load Cell Application
gain must between depending output bridge. built-in potentiometer gain would achieve output voltage Volts. higher level output external resistor must used. value that resistor calculated using gain formula. also arrived empirically using calibrated input signal equal maximum input signal expected resistance substitution adjust gain until desired full scale output voltage achieved. Assuming standard bridge used, current required from excitation supply (set Volts) would 28.6mA. leads were long enough have Ohms internal resistance there would drop over 0.25 Volts both plus common side bridge. eliminate this potential error (especially where current might vary during course measurement) sense lines connected measure regulate voltage right bridge rather than output supply thereby eliminating this potential source error. decision whether sense leads depends entirely lead length, resistance effect that error measurement.
Mechanical Specifications
Specifically designed rugged field Model completely encapsulated epoxy using vacuum potting system insure complete seal against corrosive environments. similarly protected against shock vibration will provide years reliable accurate operation.
Application Suggestions
Model designed eliminate many ordinary problems associated with bridge type measurements. Since whole system case common problem ground loops circulating currents caused poor wiring practices eliminated. recommended that lead lengths kept minimum. shielded twisted pairs input leads recommended most applications. minimize self heating errors minimum excitation power suggested sufficient heatsinking transducer wherever possible. optimum stability hour warm-up recommended. Avoid large temperature changes stray magnetic fields. output leads should kept short minimize capacitive loading output amplifier. Model Bridgesensor ready wire into your system, have power applied, start making measurements you.
