Model Bridgesensor
Amplifier
input amplifier high input impedance, differential amplifier with built gain offset adjustment potentiometers. coarse fine gain pots enable Model interface with sensor full scale output from down offset potentiometers allow setting zero current from This range allows Model provide output spans bipolar. output compliance Volts which will allow several line process control detectors adding total ohms loop resistance. current output line clamped common line with diode prevent inadvertent inductive voltage spike from destroying unit. This diode conduct current surges less than
Bridge Excitation Supply
Bridge Excitation supply adjustable from Volts Volts. allowable load current limited internal power dissipation varies from Volts 100mA Volts. curve VOLTAGE CURRENT safe operating area. AREA range voltage current covers common bridges from ohms bridge supply capable driving load cells, providing that line voltage does drop below Reference AREA Voltage Load current. supply provisions remote sensing when excitation lines have significant resistance compared sensor. +SENSE -SENSE terminals must connected terminals respectively, i.e. connect terminals together, connect terminals together when remote sensing being used. More current drawn from EXCITATION supply than shown VOLTAGE CURRENT curve using resistor series with lead connecting +SENSE terminal sensor. This resistor should calculated produce voltage drop minus desired bridge voltage output close Volts. example, bridge would draw Volts, which outside safe operating area. 15-4=11 Volts drop across series resistor. 11V/0.1A=110 ohms. watt series resistor. temperature coefficient this resistor critical. Adjust Excitation supply Volts across sensor, i.e., between +SENSE -SENSE terminals.
Connecting Sensor
amplifier finite input current which must have return path amplifier common. This path automatically provided when Model Bridge Excitation Supply used excite sensor. some reason, external supply used excite sensor, side external supply must connected Model common, terminal Either positive negative side connected common, depending external supply connected rest your system. input common mode voltage pins Model must between ±7.5 Volts. When Full Scale output sensor measured millivolts, i.e. millivolts, care must exercised entire wiring system. millivolts full scale, each microvolt (10-6 Volts) contributes 0.01% full scale output. Wire connections generate microvolts potential Contact Potentials Thermoelectric Potentials. wires used making connections between sensor Model should same material. intervening connections made such terminal block, terminal block connecting points should have good thermal contact they will always same temperature.
Determining Amplifier Gain
Model voltage input, current output amplifier. gain therefore described milliamps output volt input. Thus, change from span, with Volt change input, gain mA/Volt. Calculate required gain, from following equation:
Span Sensor Full Scale Output Volts
span 16mA sensor output voltage 16/0.05 volt.
VOLTAGE LOAD CURRENT
Zero Current Adjustment
Connect input terminals, together connect them COMMON, terminal Adjust COARSE FINE OFFSET potentiometers desired current. Since bridge general perfectly balanced, final ZERO adjustment should made with sensor connected amplifier required EXCITATION voltage set. ZERO adjustment should made about full scale output from sensor when setting ZERO 20mA span, since output current does negative.
