®1334 power CMOS bidirectional transceiver featuring reconfigurable interface ports. configured RS485 differential ports, dual RS232 single-ended ports RS485 differential port dual RS232 single-ended port. onboard charge pump requires four 0.1µF capacitors generate boosted positive negative supplies, allowing RS232 drivers meet RS232 output swing requirement with only single supply. shutdown mode reduces supply current 10µA. RS232 transceivers full compliance with RS232 specifications. RS485 transceivers full compliance with RS485 RS422 specifications. interface drivers feature short-circuit thermal shutdown protection. enable allows RS485 driver outputs forced into high impedance, which maintained even when outputs forced beyond supply rails power off. Both driver outputs receiver inputs feature ±10kV protection. loopback mode allows driver outputs connected back receiver inputs diagnostic self-test.

Basic Theory Operation LTC1334 interface ports. Each port configured pair single-ended RS232 transceivers differential RS485 transceiver forcing port's selection input high, respectively. LTC1334 provides RS232 drivers RS232 receivers RS485 driver RS485 receiver port. interface drivers feature three-state outputs. Interface outputs forced into high impedance when driver disabled, shutdown mode with power off. interface driver outputs fault-protected current limiting thermal shutdown circuit. thermal shutdown circuit disables both RS232 RS485 driver outputs when temperature reaches 150°C. thermal shutdown circuit reenables drivers when temperature cools 130°C. RS485 mode, shutdown mode with power off, input resistance receiver 24k. input resistance drops RS232 mode. logic ON/OFF shuts down device forces outputs into high impedance state. logic high enables device. internal current source pulls ON/OFF high left open. RS485 mode, internal current source pulls driver enable high left open. RS485 receiver current source noninverting input. both RS485 receiver inputs open, output goes high state. Both current sources disabled RS232 mode. receiver output inactive RS485 mode pull-up resistor provide known output state this mode. loopback mode enables internal connections from driver outputs receiver inputs self-test when logic state. driver outputs isolated from external loads. This allows transmitter verification under loaded condition. internal current source pulls high left open disables loopback configuration.
