Author: George Danz HVIC high voltage integrated circuit designed drive n-channel IGBTs MOSFETs half-bridge configuration 500VDC. Lead lengths between external power circuit (including gate pilot leads), bypass capacitor (CDD), bootstrap diode (DF) capacitor (CF) HVIC should minimized. basic components required evaluate features SP601 shown simplified schematic. recommended load largely resistive that largest current component will flow through IGBTs, IGT1 IGT2. flyback diodes, rated will carry much smaller flyback current component. small amount load inductance will cause switching waveforms simulate conditions which would normally observed with motor transformer loads, while limiting current carried lower rated flyback diodes this circuit. values RPUa, RPUb, etc., have been chosen result overcurrent trip approximately 25Apk. this level current, heat sinking IGTs flyback diodes required. series resistance upper lower pilot resistor dividers would approximately divider ratio should cause 0.1V desired trip current. When first energizing your evaluation circuit, begin with reduced voltage about 20VDC 30VDC verify proper circuit operation before proceeding higher voltages.
