Application Note Next Neighbor Clocking MSX532
MSX532 port digital crosspoint switching device using 100% non-blocking switch matrix, meaning that ports connected other port (one-to-one, one-to-many, multiple ports) programmed inputs, outputs, bi-directional. MSXdevice features configuration modes such registered input (RI), registered output (RO), input enable/disable (IN), output enable/disable (OP). This application note explains next neighbor port clock source while registered input (RI) registered output (RO) mode.

This feature useful telecom applications where different types data switching through crossbar have various associated clocks. match delays data corresponding clocks, it's common practice pass clocks through crossbar along with data.
Advantages
Using next neighbor clocking registered input (RI) mode promotes higher rate data recovery input crossbar. Using next neighbor clocking registered output (RO) mode helps reduce skew outgoing data. large number outputs switching simultaneously, next neighbor clocking registered output (RO) mode used stagger outputs reducing board noise caused simultaneous switching outputs.

Examples
following examples describe next neighbor clocking MSX532.
Example 1-Using Next Neighbor Clocking with Registered Input Mode
This following diagram shows that port used data input while port used corresponding clock. Port configured registered input (RI) mode with port next neighbor clock selection. Port connected port crossbar while port connected port crossbar.

Example 2-Using Next Neighbor Clocking with Registered Output (RO) Mode
This following diagram shows that port used data input while port used corresponding clock, both configured inputs. Port connected port crossbar while port connected port crossbar. Port configured registered output (RO) mode with port next neighbor clock selection. Port clock output used register data output crossbar. Accurate port selection required next neighbor clocking registered output (RO) mode.
