BCM2019 host-based Bluetooth 1.1-compliant implementation controlled through either 8-bit input/output register port interface UART interface. BCM2019 provides Bluetooth functionality from physical layer radio interface link manager protocol (LMP) layer. time-critical baseband link management functions implemented hardware, while non-time critical link management protocol stack functions implemented software/firmware running host processor. BCM2019 processes Bluetooth link control (LC) functions initiated host processor, manages Bluetooth slot usage, monitors completion functions, segments packages data into baseband packets. host processor software handles high-level data flow control, schedules asynchronous connection-less (ACL)/synchronous connectionoriented (SCO) transmission reception transactions. real-time transmit receive functions implemented hardware increasing reliability security data before transmission. transmit/receive functions implemented hardware include symbol time recovery, data framing/deframing, forward error correction (FEC), header error control (HEC), cyclic redundancy check (CRC), data encryption/decryption, data whitening/de-whitening.
on-chip Power Management Unit (PMU), which enabled software between baseband core Bluetooth Transceiver, provides efficient power management control. BCM2019 also includes diagnostic bypass loopback paths, well Built-in Self Test (BIST) functions. BCM2019 supports third-party Bluetooth upper layer protocol stacks. BCM2019 supports following interfaces: Standard 8-bit input/output parallel port Provides synchronous, asynchronous, synchronous burst modes. Programmable wait states available asynchronous mode. UART Supports RXD, TXD, signals. UART 16C550-compatible. Audio Codec Serial Interface serial interface supports external codec devices with 13-bit linear two's complement format. three simultaneous channels supported Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) onto single serial data stream. Each channel process data with standard CVSD, A-law, µ-law audio/data formats.
