APPLICATIONS
MTX-TEML compact, tunable transmitter solution based Multiplex's state-of-the-art Electroabsorption Modulated Laser (EML) technology. MTX-TEML incorporates laser that three sections: gain, phase, Bragg (plus integrated electr0-absorption modulator). Electronic tuning achieved injecting current into phase Bragg sections, channels tuning possible with less than 10µs switching time, with channel spacing 50GHz over grid. Multiplex produces 10Gb/s variants 16-channel MTX-TEML. Communicating with TEML Transmitter: Communication with TEML transmitter achieved parallel interface, which compatible with Enhanced Parallel Port (EPP 1.9). parallel interface provides fast easy communicate with, evaluate, TEML transmitter. TEML transmitter connected directly parallel port with capability. Using requires user read wait WAIT_N signal high before attempting write read data from TEML transmitter. Channel Setting: Channel setting one-byte command. commands available every channel (one with without blanking). channel switching with blanking used, laser output power turned before tuning sections updated, then turned off. Current Setting: Current three laser sections with commands 128-130. Current setting three-byte command. first byte (128, 129, 130), selects which laser section set. least significant bits (LBSs) following word (two bytes) specifies current value. four most significant bits (MSBs) ignored. Monitoring Functions: Seven different monitoring points available through 12-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC). Voltage values read two-byte Output Code (OC) with most significant byte first. Reading Inputs: Command read voltage analog WLL1 WLL2 inputs. Output Code, 4095* VWLL /2.5. Reading Back Facet Monitor: detector (back facet monitor (BFM)) placed behind laser. monitors light coming lasers back facet. Trans-Impedance Amplifier (TIA) converts detector current (ID) voltage. trans-impedance (RTIA) typically connected output. Output Code, 4095*ID RTIA/2.5. Command reads Output Code. Reading Laser Section Voltages: Commands 135, 136, read voltages Gain, Phase, Bragg sections respectively. Output Code, OC=4095 VLD/2.5. Reading Laser Diode Temperature: laser diode temperature accessible through command 138. Thermistor (located close laser diode) used sensor. Command read Output Code. Output Code, OC=4095 (1+10k/RTH)/4. Controlling Alarm/Flag Outputs: Transmitter digital signal outputs, both which set, toggled, cleared using commands 149.
