Feb., 2006 www.anpec.com.tw APW7071 Function Descriptions OPERATION APW7071 operates pulse frequency modulation (PFM) scheme with constant peak current control.The operation understood referring block diagram Figure converter monitors output voltage, feedback voltage falls below reference voltage (typical 0.25V), internal switch turns inductor current ramps switch turns inductor current reaches internally peak current (typical 400mA) maximum on-time detected. switch turned off, inductor current ramps down zero charge output capacitor through external Schottky diode. switch remains minimum (typical), until feedback voltage drops below reference voltage again. operation frequency 1MHz determined output current, current limit, inductor value, input voltage output voltage. This regulation scheme inherently stable, allowing wider selection range inductor output capacitor. Enable Force SHDN greater than enable device works normal operation. Pulling SHDN less than 0.4V shut down reducing shutdown current (typical). SHDN should left floating. Soft Start APW7071 limits this inrush current increasing current limit start-up. Under Voltage Lockout Transients during powering instantaneous glitches supply voltage cause system damage failure. undervoltage lockout circuit turned main switch prevent malfunction input voltage.
