Function Structure On-Board Writing Program
installing on-board writing program host computer, flash memory F-ZTAT microcomputer erased written Connect host computer (OS: Windows® 95/98/ Windows NT®/2000) microcomputer serial link. Connect host computer's serial port microcomputer's through interface; user system must have appropriate interface host computer's serial port. adapter, because voltage levels will different systems. Section Preparation Before On-Board Writing
Modifying Writing Program
writing program continuously sets control register flags specified interval while user writing programs data flash memory. These control register flags that necessary voltage applied flash memory cells. writing program must same thing when erasing contents flash memory. writing program uses clock calculate parameters used timing. However, since writing program cannot determine clock, which use, user must determine clock notify writing program. clock writing program modified following ways: Through on-board writing operation (setup function) modifying part program Details former notifying clock will given later. Here, will explain latter method. Each writing program consists following three files (xxx means product type). xxx.inf: Information file (INF file) xxx.sub: Main writing program (S-type load module) xxx.src: Main writing program (source program) Modify program source program (xxx.src). following procedure: Modify xxx.src. text editor modify xxx.src. Search definition symbol KHZ. program, these symbols written that they represent operation frequency. Usually, these symbols defined beginning program. Modify according clock user system. Fraction that goes beyond digits below fraction point rounded down MHZ, fraction that goes beyond three digits below fraction radix point rounded down KHZ. Refer comments details. Convert xxx.src S-type load module. assembler, linkage editor, object converter convert xxx.src S-type load module. details, refer user's manual each software tool. Section Using On-Board Writing Program: Basic Operations
Starting On-Board Writing Program
start on-board writing program, select [Program]->[Hitachi F-ZTAT ]->[Flash5] from Windows® Start menu. Alternatively, open program file (Flash.exe) through Explorer start on-board writing program. Select program from menu execute program file directly; on-board writing program will display window shown figure 4.1.

Select microcomputer type. Specify type name writing program information file (INF file) microcomputer. Refer attachment microcomputer type information file. on-board writing program uses this information acquire information microcomputer writing program. Further Operations On-Board Writing Program

Custom mode, select process executed when [Start] button clicked. user select Boot, Write, Sumcheck from lower-right hand corner main window. user must select processes execute. Boot: Boots writing program Sets writing program Write: Writes application program flash memory Sumcheck: Calculates checksum contents flash memory. When user selects more than processes, on-board writing program will execute processes order: Boot, Write, then Sumcheck.
Specifying Block Erase
When microcomputer enters boot mode, boot program will erase whole flash memory; therefore, user does have erase flash memory before writing data However, user program mode, user must explicitly erase contents target address range; except regions which contents have already been erased.

boot mode, when writing will done several times, select [Erase before write] check prevent addresses that have already been overwritten written again. Custom mode, flash memory written block where data been erased. boot program will erase contents flash memory block units. This means that onboard writing program will erase each specified block before writing data When user selects [Erase before write] check [Write Erase Settings] dialog box, user specify check blocks erased.

Selecting Custom Mode automatically selects [Erase before write] check box. Therefore, flash memory does have erased block, click this check cancel selection. Selecting [Erase before write] check then clicking [OK] button [Write Erase Setting] dialog will display [Erase Block Selection] dialog box.
