MAX2840/MAX2841 low-cost linear power amplifiers (PAs) operate 5GHz 6GHz band. designed high gain high linearity, which makes them ideal IEEE 802.11a OFDM systems. MAX2840 delivers +15dBm output power, MAX2841 delivers +18dBm output power. devices integrate power detector that provides over 15dB dynamic range ±1.0dB accuracy. With detector circuit built automatic level control (ALC) function easily implemented. also feature external bias control function. idle current adjusted through external improve efficiency reduced output powers while maintaining sufficient ACPR performance. result, highest possible efficiency maintained power levels. MAX2840/MAX2841 operate over single +2.7V +3.6V power-supply range. on-chip shutdown feature reduces operating current less than 10µA, eliminating need external supply switch. Description

MAX2840/MAX2841 linear power amplifiers (PAs) intended 5GHz 6GHz band applications. fully characterized 5.15GHz 5.35GHz band. consist driver stages output stage. also feature integrated power detector power shutdown mode.

Dynamic Power Control
MAX2840/MAX2841 designed provide optimum power-added efficiency (PAE) both high- low-power applications. +3.3V supply high-output power level, output power typically +18dBm (MAX2841) with idle current 165mA, +15dBm (MAX2840) with idle current 120mA. low-output power levels, current reduced external improve while maintaining sufficient ACPR performance. This achieved using external resistors connected BIAS bias currents driver output stages. Typical Application Circuit resistor values. Typically, voltage 1.9V gives 260mA bias current MAX2841, voltage 1.6V gives 155mA bias current MAX2840. Increasing voltage decreases idle current.
