APPLICATION CIRCUIT 950MHz
This Application Note describes circuit which demonstrates functions performance SL6442 950MHz amplifier/mixer receiver front configuration. Fig. schematic diagram which illustrates arrangement ancillary components required optimum performance 950MHz. Component layout, track ground plane shown Figs. respectively. Approximate starting values components were obtained using Smith charts data derived from S-parameter analysis (see Figs. 10). actual component values were determined using linear circuit simulator such TouchstoneTM. this case circuit optimised maximum stable gain minimum input reflection coefficient required frequency. input match achieved using stripline shorted-stub network. output mixer input match achieved using series inductor, mixer output match consists tunable network. prevent possible instability, (VBIAS) decoupled with series network well capacitor. quadrature phase shift components consist phase lead (R3, C18) phase (R2, C17) networks, which capacitively coupled input pins. Inductor serves resonate parasitic capacitance between ports. exact values phase shift components were determined empirically achieve maximum amplitude phase imbalance about degrees respectively. variable capacitors adjusted give maximum output level 20MHz. Other intermediate frequencies require different values and/ zero direct conversion receivers, output matching network transparent. facility required necessary connect (VBG). battery economy (10) connected directly ground power down facility required. NOTE: Ensure adequate decoupling used close chip, especially when designing maximum power gain. Refer S-parameters avoid possible stability problems when designing close maximum gain.
