Detailed Description
MXL1543B three-driver/three-receiver, multiprotocol transceiver that operates from single supply. MXL1543B, along with MXL1544/MAX3175 MXL1344A, form complete software-selectable interface port that supports V.28 (RS-232), V.10/V.11 (RS-449/V.36, EIA-530, EIA-530A, X.21), V.35 protocols. MXL1543B transceivers carry high-speed clock data signals, while MXL1544/MAX3175 transceivers carry serial interface control signaling. MXL1543B terminated MXL1344A software-selectable resistor termination network discrete termination network. MXL1543B features 0.5µA no-cable mode, true fail-safe
operation, thermal shutdown circuitry. Thermal shutdown protects drivers against excessive power dissipation. When activated, thermal shutdown circuitry places driver outputs into high-impedance state.
Mode Selection
state mode-select pins determines which serial interface protocol selected (Table state DCE/DTE input determines whether transceiver will configured serial port. When DCE/DTE input logic HIGH, driver activated receiver disabled. When DCE/DTE input logic LOW, driver disabled receiver activated.

No-Cable Mode
MXL1543B will enter no-cable mode when mode-select pins left unconnected connected high this mode, multiprotocol drivers receivers disabled supply current drops 0.5µA. receivers' outputs enter high-impedance state no-cable mode, which allow these output lines shared with other receivers' outputs (the receivers' outputs have internal pullup resistors pull outputs HIGH driven). Capacitor Selection

Cable Termination
