Rockwell
Rockwell Multifunction Card Interface Control Adapter Modem Ethernet Functions (PICA-M) provides functions necessary interface Rockwell RC144ACL/RC288ACL modem Ethernet controller Card Standard compliant bus. PICA-M device contains attribute memory decoding sets configuration status registers, modem interface Ethernet controller. Multiple function support includes programmable window size both modem Ethernet interfaces. interface external 512-byte Card Information Structure (CIS) memory also provided. This contains Card tuple information needed define functionality Card. Modem Function Support modem function contains Configuration Option Register, Configuration Status Register, Replacement Register, Event Register, 16-bit Base Register. Dedicated modem control status signals provided. addition, speaker input from audio analog-to-digital converter ring indicate input from telephone line interface supported. Ring indication handling support provided different methods. recommended method implements optional Event Indication Register statusing Card events. this approach, Ring indications registered Card status change process initiated. secondary method follows ExCA implementation approach whereby Ring indication directly routed status change signal pin. Ethernet Controller Function Support Ethernet controller function contains Configuration Option Register, Configuration Status Register, 16-bit Base Register. Dedicated control status signals provided support typical Ethernet controllers. Product Support Rockwell Card AccelerATorkits and/or Reference Designs available modem/Ethernet combination Cards. AccelerATorkits speed time market. Additional information available PICA-M Designer's Guide (Order 1091).

HARDWARE INTERFACES
PICA-M provides hardware interfaces Card socket, memory, modem, telephone line interface, digital audio signal, Ethernet controller (Figure PICA-M signal assignments 100-pin VQFP package shown Figure Card Connector Interface 68-pin Card Connector (Socket) provides interface between host Card. PICA-M interface signals Card Connector bidirectional data lines (D0-D7), address input lines (A0-A15), control inputs (-RESETIN, -OE, -WE, -CE1, -CE2, -REG, -IORD), status outputs (-IREQ, -INPACK, IOIS16, -STSCHG), speaker output (SPKR). Modem Interface PICA-M-to-Modem Signals PICA-M connects directly modem. This interface includes modem chip select (-CSM), read (-MODEMRD), power down (-PWRDWNM), reset (-RESETOUTM) control signals modem ready (MRDY) interrupt request (IREQINM) status signals. ring indicate input signal (RINGIN) from telephone line interface also output modem (RINGOUTB). [Address (HA0-HA2) data lines (HD0-HD7) from Card Connector connect directly modem support data transfer between modem host.] Telephone Line Interface PICA-M receives ring indicate signal (RINGIN) from telephone line interface that host-selectably passed modem wake modem upon ring detection. Digital Audio Signal Interface PICA-M supports host -controlled pass-through digital audio input signal (SPKRIN) drive external speaker. Ethernet Interface PICA-M-to-Ethernet Signals PICA-M connects directly Ethernet controller. This interface includes Ethernet controller chip select (-CSE CSE), power down (-PWRDWNE PWRDWNE), reset (-RESETOUTE), disable EEPROM (-DISABLEEEP), 16-bit data select (-IO16E), address (A0OUT) control signals, interrupt request (IREQINE) status signal. [Address (HA0-HA4) data lines (HD0-HD15) from Card Connector connect directly Ethernet controller support data transfer between Ethernet controller host. addition, host read (-IORD), host write (-IOWR), chip select (-CE2), channel ready (IOCHRDY) signals connect directly from Card Connector Ethernet controller.]
