Functional Description
DM93S41 4-bit high speed parallel arithmetic logic unit (ALU) Controlled four Function Select inputs Mode Control input perform possible operations different arithmetic operations active HIGH active operands Function Table below lists these operations When Mode Control input HIGH internal carries inhibited device performs logic operations individual bits listed When Mode Control input carries enabled device performs arithmetic operations 4-bit words device incorporates full internal carry lookahead provides either ripple carry between devices using output carry lookahead between packages using signals (Carry Propagate) (Carry Generate) affected carry When speed requirements stringent DM93S41 used simple ripple carry mode connecting Carry output signal Carry input (Cn) next unit super high speed operation Schottky DM93S41 should used conjunction with carry lookahead circuit output from DM93S41 goes HIGH when four outputs HIGH used indicate logic equivalence over four bits when unit subtract mode output open-collector wired-AND with other outputs give comparison more than four bits signal also used with signal indicate Function Table lists arithmetic operations that performed without carry incoming carry adds each operation Thus select code LHHL generates minus minus complement notation) without carry generates minus when carry applied Because subtraction actually performed complementary addition complement) carry means borrow thus carry generated when there underflow carry generated when there underflow indicated used with either active inputs producing active outputs with active HIGH inputs producing active HIGH outputs either case table lists operations that performed operands labeled inside logic symbol
